Swipe Tool

 
The Swipe Tool allows you to compare between any two aerial images with a horizontal swiping action.
 
Refresh your Web App.
 
Clear up the display area by closing the Enhanced Search Widget and the Layer List Widget.
 
 
Hover your mouse over the tools on the Title Bar.
 
This will reveal their names.
 
Click on the Swipe Tool.
 
 
 Push the slider left or right to swipe between the two aerial images.
 
 
Click on the down arrow on the Swipe Tool.
 
You can see there are two imagery layers:
 
2016 Sep – 2016 Dec
2014 Sep – 2014 Nov
 
 
There is an Image Layer on the left, and a second Image Layer on the right.
 
How can you tell which one is which?
 
Click on the Layer List Widget.
 
 
This opens the Layer List Widget.
 
 
The following two Imagery Layers have been turned on:
 
2016 Sep – 2016 Dec
2014 Sep – 2014 Nov
 
This is the default state when you open the Web App the very first time.
 
Expand the Layer = 2016 Sep – 2016 Dec
 
This image was captured in 2016 during the months of September and December.
 
 
Notice the Footprint Layer is turned off by default.
 
Turn on the Footprint Layer.
 
 
Now you can see the Date Stamp on this Imagery Layer.
 
This aerial image was taken on 9/24/2016 at a pixel resolution of 0.32 ft.
 
In general, smaller the pixel resolution, better the imagery.
 
Click on the Swipe Tool to open it.
 
 
With the Footprint Layer turned on, you can see that the image on the left refers to the 2016 Imagery.
 
This means the image on the right must be the 2014 Imagery.
 
Next, you are going to swipe between the 2016 Imagery and the 2010 Imagery.
 
Open the Layer List Widget.
 
 
Turn Off the 2014 Imagery Layer.
 
Turn On the 2010 Imagery Layer.
 
Open the Swipe Tool.
 
 
You can now Swipe between the 2016 Imagery on the left and the 2010 Imagery on the right.
 
Next, you are going to swipe between the 2010 Imagery and the 2004 Imagery.
 
Open the Layer List Widget.
 
Turn off the Footprint Layer under the 2016 Imagery.
 
 
Turn off the 2016 Imagery.
 
 
Keep the 2010 Imagery turned on.
 
Scroll down and turn on the 2004 Imagery.
 
 
Open the Swipe Tool.
 
You are swiping between these two Layers:
 
2010 Imagery
2004 Imagery
 
 
To make it easy to distinguish between the two layers you need to view the Footprints.
 
Open the Layer List Widget.
 
Expand the 2010 Layer and turn on Footprints.
 
 
Open the Swipe Tool.
 
 
The 2010 Imagery with Footprints is shown on the left.
 
Summary:
 
To use the Swipe Tool make sure you have two Imagery Layers turned on.
 
Example:
 
2010 Sep – 2010 Oct
2004 Nov – 2004 Dec
 
The top imagery layer appears on the Left
The bottom imagery layer appears on the Right.
 
To view the Date Stamp of an imagery layer, turn on its corresponding Footprint Layer.
