This raster dataset consists of color orthophotos. A digital orthophoto is a raster image processed from vertical aerial photographs in which displacement in the image due to sensor orientation and terrain relief have been removed. Orthophotos combine the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. Unlike planimetric maps which depicts natural and manmade features by means of lines, point symbols, texts and polygons, orthophotos show the actual images of features and are thus more easily interpreted than regular maps. The normal orientation of data in an orthophoto is by lines (rows) and samples (columns). Each line contains a series of pixels ordered from west to east with the order of the lines from north to south.

The color aerial orthophotography was collected from September 2019 thru December 2019. The orthophotos were produced at 0.25', 0.32' and 0.75' Ground Sampling Distance (GSD) covering approximately 5855 square miles. Of the 5855 square miles, approximately 461 square miles are high resolution (0.25') imagery, approximately 2756 square miles are lower resolution (0.32') imagery, and approximately 2638 square miles are lowest resolution (0.75') imagery. The flight heights range from approximately 2300'-5800', 2200'-6800' and 2100'-9200' above mean terrain respectively for the high resolution (0.25'), lower resolution (0.32'), and lowest resolution (0.75') imagery. Each ortho tile is 5000' x 5000' in dimension and was produced from nadir images and edge matched with the adjacent tiles (no gap and no overlap). Automatic aerial triangulation (AAT) was performed. The triangulated frames were rectified to a LiDAR derived DEM. Mosaicing was performed using an automatic seaming algorithm and manually edited to eliminate seams through elevated features where possible. Each image tile is stored in industry standard .TIFF (tagged interchange file format) with an associated true world header file. This dataset is published in Arizona State Plane Coordinate System, Central Zone, NAD83/92 HARN with units in international feet.

Aerial2019Sep2019DecOrtho
